Why Hannah Montana Forever is Not the End of the Road
Tuesday, 16 November 2010
The fourth and final series of Hannah Montana Forever started in the UK at the beginning of October with a special double bill to kick-start the series. Fans of the Disney Channel's most colourful and instantly recognisable pop stars are likely to view the series with a mixture of happiness and regret. There is joy in that the new series promises to be one of the most enjoyable and emotional yet sadness because this final series could be the final curtain for all things Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel.
Or is it?
While the Hannah Montana TV series may be embarking upon its final run, there are still plenty of other ways to keep yourself entertained and fully immersed in the world of Hannah Montana, Miley Stewart and co.
For example, to support the new series, the Disney Channel has revamped the Hannah Montana part of its website. The brand new Hannah Montana Forever section went live on the same date the television series started and features a whole host of Hannah Montana wallpapers, pictures and other downloadable items that are freely available for all Hannah Montana fans to enjoy at their leisure. The wallpapers, pictures, t-shirt transfers and buddy icons that are readily available are all linked in with the Hannah Montana Forever theme, which means that any fan of the show can personalise their PC into a tribute to the singing superstar.
The site also contains a photo gallery of Hannah Montana and her co-stars decked out in a variety of colourful fashions and links to the newly-available CD to accompany the series. The CD, which was released in the middle of October, contains 11 brand new tracks taken directly from the show and includes one of the featured songs, Ordinary Girl. Fans can watch the video of the song via the specialist video section on the website, which also features links to previews of episodes in the fourth series as well as other selected videos to do with all things Hannah Montana.
For most fans of the series, the chance to play one of the Hannah Montana games on the website will prove to be a particular hit; whether you are seeking to take on Rico as an entrepreneur in Rico's Surf Shop Challenge, or if you fancy turning your artistic skills towards design and dress up Hannah Montana and her friend Lola in Miley and Lilly's Designer Dreams game. You can also link directly into the events of the very first episode in series four by playing Roomy Room Re-Do, where you get to style and decorate Miley's new bedroom.
Once fans in the UK have exhausted the options available on the UK version of the site, the good news is that they can then log into the US version which contains even more games, information, pictures and downloads for the Hannah Montana fan who wants more!
It is important to remember, however, that all this additional material was designed to accompany and support the new series and fortunately, it is shaping up nicely to capture the attention and enthusiasm of Miley Cyrus' growing band of loyal fans.
The first thing to note about the new series is that almost all the major characters from previous episodes make a return, not to mention some minor ones too. Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's real life father, returns to play Robby Stewart, Miley's on-screen father and of course, Miley Cyrus returns in the title role as well as that of her 'ordinary girl' alter-ego, Miley Stewart. Jason Earles plays Jackson, Miley's brother and Emily Osment returns as Miley's best friend Lilly and her Hannah Montana best friend, the alter ego Lola. Moises Arias also returns as Rico, the cunning young entrepreneur who divides his time between making Jackson's life a misery and making money.
In addition to the strong returning cast, there are a number of other familiar faces that will return to the series as recurring characters; Mitchel Musso is one of these, reprising his role of Oliver Oken throughout the series, while Cody Linley returns as Miley's former beau Jake Ryan. There are also a whole host of new faces to welcome to the series, which gives the show a fresh new dynamic. These include Tammin Sursok as Siena, the Stewart's new next-door neighbour who casts her spell on Jackson with immediate and hilarious results. The final series also welcomes a host of top notch celebrity guest stars to several episodes, with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Ray Liotta, Christine Taylor and Angus T. Jones all making appearances over the course of the 12 episodes.
The fourth series of Hannah Montana Forever is also the first to be shot in high definition, meaning fans will be able to enjoy the show in never before seen levels of clarity and colour. In addition, the series ending will feature a one-hour special finale episode, a first for a Disney Channel show, which will undoubtedly resolve many of the issues raised during the fourth series, pose new questions as Hannah ponders her future and will ensure that Hannah Montana fans are in for a real surprise!
While the fourth series of Hannah Montana may well be the end of the television series, it is just the beginning for a legion of Hannah Montana fans, young or old, who may be discovering the vocal talents of Miley Cyrus for the first time through this series. Fortunately, thanks to the current airing of the new shows, the availability of each of the three previous series and Hannah Montana concerts on DVD, not to mention the level of information, games, wallpapers and Hannah Montana pictures on the website, means that fans of the series are more than able to satisfy their needs for all things Hannah Montana!
In addition, with the fourth series certain to be released on DVD and the continued support of the Disney Channel website, the final series of Hannah Montana Forever is not the end of the road; just the beginning of a new one.
