Ninja Girl JJ back on our screens thumbnailJJ McParland will star in a documentary about her first ever participation in the Junior WAKO Championships which brings kick-boxing competitors from across the globe

Martial arts sensation subject of one-off CBBC documentary programme

KEADY'S own martial arts sensation JJ McParland is returning to our television screens for a one-off documentary that captures her quest for glory at a major kick-boxing championships.

The programme, 'My Life: Ninja Girl!', which will be shown on CBBC in coming weeks, follows Jesse-Jane as she prepares for the Junior WAKO (World Association of Kick-Boxing Organisations) Championships held in Dublin.

Each year the major contest brings together competitors from across the world to battle it out in various disciplines including Point Fighting and Low Kick, among others.

Known as 'JJ The Golden Dragon', the schoolgirl has been in huge demand ever since she wowed viewers of Britain's Got Talent in 2015. Since then, clips of her impressive gravity-defying martial arts moves have gone viral online, prompting American chat show host, Ellen DeGeneres to invite the Keady girl on to her eponymous show last year.

Away from showbiz, however, the Keady schoolgirl is a multiple world champion, who, now aged 10, is finally old enough to compete in the WAKO games for the very first time. Her preparation and training regime for the contest is captured for the documentary, and speaking to the Ulster Gazette, JJ's dad, Gary, was keen to not give away any 'spoilers', but said viewers tuning in are in for enjoyable time. "We got to watch a preview of it and there are moments where it's so funny," he revealed. "Watching it I also realised how witty and droll JJ actually is."

In in the kick-boxing arena, however, Jesse-Jane has her sights firmly set on performing at her very best, and dreams one day of becoming a Gold medalist Olympian athlete.

Meanwhile, programme makers, Patricia Moore, who produced the documentary, and director Ronan McCloskey, added that viewers can look forward to watching JJ display her determination at the WAKO games, as she seeks to make her family and coach proud, by taking on some of the most talented young kick-boxers across the globe.

'My Life: Ninja Girl!' will be broadcast on CBBC on Monday, March 27.
