Schmidt to launch fund-raising drive thumbnailIreland Rugby Head Coach Joe Schmidt, Ulster and Ireland winger Tommy Bowe, Fiona Coghlan and Darragh O Sť are all set to attend a corporate dinner held at the Palace Grounds on July 20.

CITY of Armagh Rugby Football Club have confirmed that Ireland Head Coach Joe Schmidt will be keynote speaker at their corporate fund-raising dinner on Thursday, July 20.

The Kiwi native will be one of the guest speakers at the dinner in July and he will be joined by Tommy Bowe, Fiona Coghlan and Darragh O Sť and MC for the evening Adrian Logan.

The fund-raising dinner coincides with the club announcing major plans for a new clubhouse and the redevelopment of their Palace Grounds home. The dinner will mark the commencement of a major fund-raising drive at the club.

Securing the services of four high profile guests for their fund-raising dinner is a huge coup for the club.

Tommy Bowe needs no introduction, the Monaghan native having attended the Royal School in Armagh and has close links with the local club. The Irish International has 69 caps for Ireland and was selected for both British and Irish Lions tours in 2009 and 2013.

Fiona Coghlan has played 85 times for the Ireland Women's rugby team and was captain of the successful 6 Nations winning team in 2013.

Her team made history in 2014 when they defeated the All Blacks at the Women's World Cup in 2014.

Darragh O Sť played in 81 championship matches for Kerry, a GAA record and is regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time.

He has six All Ireland title medals and retired from the game in 2010.

The event at the Palace Grounds is taking place in a giant marquee in the club car park and catering will be by the Yellow Door. Dress code is smart casual.

Local businesses are being encouraged to support the event after work with the drinks reception commencing at 5.30pm along with photograph opportunities with the various speakers.

Joe Schmidt will be then interviewed by MC Adrian Logan and following the dinner, the other sporting stars will take to the stage. An auction of sporting memorabilia and other items will round off the evening.

Tables and individual tickets can be booked through James Scott on 07720 537909,
