Thursday, 13 July 2017

TEN swimmers from the Armagh Special Olympics recently returned from the Reading LD British Swimming Championships.

Armagh representatives Danielle Hawe, Gemma Gordon, Barry Gordon, Peadar Connolly, Thomas Neagle, Dale Moore, Enda King, Ciaran Breen, Kevin Murray, and Ruairi Kelly travelled to Berkshire with their coaches Nicki Rankin and Peter Connolly to compete in two action packed days of competition.

In Reading, the local swimmers joined 300 other swimmers from the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.

All of the Armagh swimmers showed their undoubted talent as they competed in the top divisions of each category and they brought home a whopping 25 golds, 12 silvers, seven bronzes and six fourth places.

This was a fantastic weekend and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Coaches Nicki and Peter would like to say what a privilege it was to have taken these wonderful group of swimmers away to compete in such a fantastically run competition.
