IRELAND rugby coach Joe Schmidt is set to attend a major fundraising corporate dinner at the home of City of Armagh Rugby Football Club on Thursday, July 20.

Schmidt is the keynote speaker at the fundraiser which has been organised to help the club generate funds for a redevelopment of their Palace Grounds home.

He will be joined by a plethora of sporting stars with former Royal School star and former British and Irish Lions winger Tommy Bowe, Ireland women's international Fiona Coghlan, former Kerry midfielder Darragh ” Sť will be among the sporting stars attending.

The master of ceremonies for the evening is Tyrone broadcaster Adrian Logan.

Monaghan native Tommy Bowe doesn't need any introduction. The former Royal School 1st XV star has very close links to the club and he is a regular on the sidelines at the Palace Grounds.

The Irish international has gathered 69 caps since making his debut against America in 2004.

Fiona Coghlan will be another popular guest speaker. She was captain of the Ireland team that won the Six Nations in 2013 and one year later they made history as they defeated New Zealand in the Women's World Cup.

Coghlan has accumulated 85 caps for Ireland and she will no doubt speak about the upcoming women's World Cup, which gets underway on August 9 in Dublin.

Kerry native Darragh ” Sť is regarded as one of the greatest gaelic footballers of all time and he played in 81 championship matches for his beloved Kerry.

Darragh managed to win six All-Ireland titles during his career and he brought a curtain down on his illustrious career in 2010.

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt is no stranger to the Palace Grounds and in May, Schmidt was on hand to present club member Ken Redpath with the 2017 Ulster Bank League Public Relations Officer of the year at the annual awards ceremony in Dublin.

The fundraising dinner is one of the first major events for incoming club president John Lennon.

The Derrynoose man said he is immensely looking forward to his time in office and is excited about the dinner.

"Our organising team have been working tremendously hard to ensure this event will be a huge success and the interest from the local community has been super."

It is expected that over 400 people will be in attendance at the dinner, which is set to take place in a huge state of the art marquee in the club's car park.

The catering is supplied by the award winning Yellow Door and the dress code is smart casual.

It is expected that the event will start with a drinks reception at 5.30pm, when photographs with the guest speakers can take place.

Joe Schmidt will take to the stage shortly after for a chat with Adrian Logan and dinner will follow.

After dinner, Adrian will speak to Darragh, Tommy and Fiona.

An auction of sporting memorabilia and other items will round off the evening.

Tables and individual tickets can still be booked through event co-ordinator James Scott on 07720537909 or email
