Armagh teenager crowned the Senior Face of NI thumbnailNadia Kelly secures her place in the 2018 Europe and World beauty finals

AN Armagh teenager has secured her place in a Europe and World beauty competition after being crowned the Senior Face of Northern Ireland.

Nadia Kelly also clinched the title of 'Miss Charity' at the glittering ceremony, which was held at the Corick House Hotel and Spa on Sunday, July 30.

As part of this year's competition - which coupled beauty with charity work - the 18-year-old undertook a skydive at Wilde Geese in Garvagh on Saturday, June 3.

Speaking to the Ulster Gazette, Nadia - who has just completed her A-Levels at St Catherine's College - spoke of her delight and recalled how surprised she was at being named the overall winner.

"When my name was called out, I was in complete shock, I burst out crying. I was so overwhelmed, I really did not expect it," a delighted Nadia said.

"The competition was tough, but I've made so many life long friends and everyone is so supportive.

"There was so many amazing girls there, both inside and out! "I am so proud to be the Senior Face of Northern Ireland 2017/2018 as this will open so many doors for me.

"The next step is going to Disneyland, Paris where I will compete in 'Face of Europe and the World' in late 2018, but I have a lot of hard work to do before this as I am still raising money for Alzheimer's Association and Headway East Kent." Having already raised 673.25 through the skydive and a raffle, Nadia is also planning to participate in a memory walk at Stormont in September in an effort to further raise her total fundraising amount.

"I would urge everyone to sign up and raise awareness and funds for both brilliant charities!" she said.

"The skydive was surprisingly amazing and I'd do it again in a heart beat! I waited a while and was told I wasn't going to get doing it because of bad weather so I think I just wanted to get it done! "I remember ringing up to book my skydive and immediately when it was booked, I hung up the phone and the dread literally began there and then." Nadia has thanked all her local sponsors, including Seven Hills, Mary Kelly Tan, HD Boudoir and Frocks in Stock for her dress which also won her 'best evening wear'.

"I'd also like to thank everyone who congratulated me and supported me, including my family and to Anouska Black who is the pageant director and made that special night happen!" In the meantime, Nadia is awaiting her A-Level results, before deciding on her next career path.

"I've just completed health and social care, theatre studies and hospitality and I hope to go into study social work, depending on the results!" she added.
