Sadness at death of popular journalist. thumbnailVictor Gordon.

Tributes have been paid to the hugely popular Portadown journalist, Victor Gordon who died peacefully at his home on Sunday evening after a short illness.

Victor had worked for many years for the Portadown Times and was a former Deputy Editor of the local weekly newspaper. In recent times despite retirement he had worked for the title on a freelance basis.

In 2016 Victor worked for a short spell with the Ulster Gazette.

Gazette Editor, John Hooks looks back on this period fondly. "Victor would phone at the start of the week and speak with such enthusiasm about the stories he intended to work on for the next edition of the Gazette," said John.

"Victor's love for his profession shone through during those conversations and it was a privilege for me to print the stories he produced.

"He was one of life's gentlemen and a brilliant journalist and it is a sad time for Victor's friends and colleagues - he will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him." Condolences have been extended to Victor's wife, Elizabeth, son Paul, daughters Heather and Fiona and the extended family circle.

At the time of going to press funeral arrangements had not been finalised.
