Primary school wanted to tell ‘Our Story of Christmas’. thumbnailLord Mayor Alderman Gareth Wilson is pictured with Portadown Integrated PS Principal, Mr Feargal Magee, and pupils who starred in this year’s ‘Our Story of Christmas’ campaign.

AS part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's efforts to make the second-year production of its enchanting 'Our Story of Christmas' campaign all the more engaging, it has taken a new creative direction and enlisted the help of pupils from Portadown Integrated PS to play a starring role in this year's campaign.

And now the search is on to find another primary school in the borough whose pupils can become fully involved in the production of next year's campaign. The winning school will, like pupils from Portadown Integrated PS, have a unique opportunity to not only to raise the profile of their school but also showcase their creative talents both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

In addition to performing the voice-over for TV and radio adverts, pupils from Portadown Integrated PS were asked to help create puppet characters which feature in the advert and appear in a series of short videos where they share their thoughts on Santa, Christmas Day and Presents.

There's also a recording of pupils putting on their own puppet theatre show in front of the entire school and performing their own version of 'Our Story of Christmas'.

To see first-hand the valuable contribution that Portadown Integrated PS made to this year's campaign, log onto to watch the final TV advert and collection of recordings that show all aspects of their involvement.

If your primary school wants to take centre stage in next year's campaign, all you have to do is create a short video (maximum of two minutes) that narrates your very own captivating version of 'Our Story of Christmas'.

Following this, they will receive instructions on how to upload their video. The closing date for submitting a video is 12 noon on Friday 26 January 2018.

Lord Mayor Alderman Gareth Wilson will be part of the judging panel and is keen to see other primary schools in the borough get the opportunity to play a starring role in next year's campaign.

Commenting on 'Our Story of Christmas' campaign and competition, he said: "With children the focus of Christmas, it's very fitting that local school children were brought on board to be an integral part of this year's festive campaign. The talented and articulate pupils at Portadown Integrated PS showed great enthusiasm and were exceptionally good at meeting all the requirements of the creative brief.

The creative concept of 'Our Story of Christmas' campaign was recognised at the Tourism NI Awards when it was highly commended in the 'Best Marketing Initiative' category. Fingers crossed that it might just make it to the top spot this year because Portadown Integrated PS pupils really captured the essence of Christmas as seen through their own eyes and narrated in their own words."
