City face Ards

Thursday, 4 February 2010

ARMAGH City will have plenty on their plate this Saturday when they entertain high-flying Ards.
Currently languishing at the foot of the Ladbrokes.com Division One Championship, the Holm Park outfit are still chasing their first league victory of the season.
City will be without the services of left-sided midfielder Peter McNeill (hamstring) and defender/midfielder Conor Toye (ankle ligaments) who both continue to struggle with injuries.
However, midfielder Liam Cullen and goalkeeper William McFrederick will be back in the panel after suspension and unavailability respectively.
Also expected to start is centre-back Mark Stewart who recently met for "clear the air talks" with club chairman Philip Johnston.
“Mark and everyone else contracted with Armagh FC will be remaining," he confirmed.
This will, no doubt, please under pressure team manager Ivor McGucken.
“We need all our players because it is obvious that we have to start winning at this stage of the season," the boss admitted.
He further confirmed, "Once again we are faced with another very difficult match against one of the top-four sides in our division.
“Currently, we are unable to bring in any new players and I certainly cannot afford to lose anyone at all from the squad.
“We will remain optimistic, put out our strongest team possible and, hopefully, get a positive result," Ivor concluded.
Certainly, this will be no easy task as Ards comprehensively defeated Armagh when the sides clashed in their opening league encounter in mid-August last.
While Tommy Kincaid's team have been going strongly all season, they are also capable of having an off-day.
Armagh - who went down narrowly 3-2 away to Bangor last week - will be hoping this is the case on Saturday.
City need to take something from the game - even a point - or they could find themselves even further adrift at the bottom of the Ladbrokes.com Division One Championship.
The Armagh City v Ards encounter will be held this Saturday, February 6, at Holm Park, Armagh, kicking-off at 3pm. Everyone welcome.
