Ulster Championships set to get under way thumbnail

IT is a busy time of year for those involved in the road bowls fraternity and last week the draw for the for the Philip White Ulster Championships took place.

The organisers of the competition have expressed their delight with the number of entrants and the number of clubs willing to accommodate the needs of the sport.

Madden are one of the leading contenders and as well as hosting a number of high profile Ulster Championship games, they will be hosting the second heat of the All-Ireland finals.

Rock Road, who have a legacy of running veteran events and they will be once again looking after that category.

The Navan course will welcome the Novice 4 and all the best to the organisers there.

The Black Water/Portmor club have incredibly hard over the years and they will be hosting the Boys' U18 and Junior A sections.

Novice 3 will be split between three different roads and Novice 2 will be run by the Keady/Tassagh club and Tullysaran are also set to host some championship scores.

Best of luck to all of the clubs and to all the volunteers. Special thanks must also to sponsor Philip White, who has consistently backed road bowls, particular at youth level.
