Ogs look destined for relegation after defeat

Thursday, 27 July 2017

Whitecross 0-14 Tir Na nOg 1-8. WHITECROSS began the better with three points without reply from Colm O'Hanlon, Barry Og McKeown and Anthony McCann. Conor Malone (free) then traded points as Ogs struggled to get a grip on the game.
Very much against the run of play, Ogs plundered a goal and a point from play to take a first time lead. The hosts settled again quickly with Colm O'Hanlon and Conor Malone points giving Whitecross back the lead. Ogs refused to concede, given they are under a real threat of relegation, and producing a point against the run of play they restored parity at 0-6 to 1-3 at the interval.
The third quarter was very balanced as both sides traded three points with Colm O'Hanlon (2) and Conor Malone scoring for the hosts.
Whitecross in a rich seam of possession assumed game control through Kieran McNulty, Cathal McSherry and Colm O'Hanlon points.
Ogs stayed competitive and Whitecross had to be on top of the game to stay ahead. By the final whistle, Neil and Cathal McSherry had exchanged points for a most welcome Whitecross win.
An excellent overall team display was posted by Whitecross but sadly Ogs look destined for relegation by this defeat.
