KEADY woman Roisin Molloy has picked up a national award in London on behalf of her employer Kukoon Rugs.

Roisin has worked with the company for six years and two years ago was promoted to Head of Customer Service.

The Newry head-quartered online rug seller, Kukoon Rugs, received the prestigious ‘Best Small Business’ award for commitment to growth and family business values.

The growing company, which was set up in 2007 by brother and sister duo, Paul and Clare Vallely, now employs over 30 staff and is delighted to have been named ‘Best Small Business’ in Ireland and to have reached the top three for ‘Best Place to Work’ in the UK.

Roisin, speaking after attending the awards in London, said: “We are thrilled to win such a prestigious award and be recognised at this level. This award is testament to the hard work of all our team. We are always striving to be the best for our customers and do the best for our team.”

The company, headquartered in Carnbane, Newry, has a 60,000 sq ft warehouse, holding more than 120,000 rugs in stock, shipped to more than 30 countries daily.

The appointment of an in-house designer in recent years, Beverly Herron, has allowed the company to grow by more than 20% year on year.

Three years ago, the company opened their first retail shop in Newry and last year opened their flagship store on Boucher Road, Belfast.

Paul Vallely, Managing Director, commented: “We have focused on growing our team with the right people and it has paid off. When you have a great team in place, everything else follows.

“We are now recognised worldwide as the go to website for rugs and to receive an award in recognition of our work is a great boost to the entire team.”
