The big day has finally arrived for all those who know their chain from their slip stitch!
That’s because the UK’s largest craft show has returned to Northern Ireland with a new venue, new name and an unrivalled line up of suppliers.
Knit + Stitch, formerly the Knitting & Stitching Show, is underway at its new home of the Eikon Exhibition Centre outside Lisburn – once the thriving heartland of Northern Ireland’s linen industry. Eikon also plays host to Northern Irelands much loved Balmoral Show which annually attracts over 120,000 people from all over UK & Ireland.
Tickets will be available on the door on each day of the event priced at £21 for adults and £19 for concessions. Use code LASTMINUTE when booking online or at the Box Office to save £4 off your ticket price.
Bringing together hundreds of crafting workshops, live demonstrations, hands-on activities, curated textile art galleries, and over 100 leading specialist craft suppliers, this year’s show – which runs until Sunday, November 16 - is overflowing with creativity and innovation.
With many exhibitors travelling from outside Northern Ireland or showcasing their work here for the first time, the event offers a fantastic opportunity for local visitors to discover a wide range of craft suppliers and products that may have previously been out of reach.
The show’s new venue has over 4,000 free parking spaces onsite and designated areas for blue badge holders, while there’s also a free shuttle bus from Lisburn Train Station. Conveniently located along the A1 corridor between Dublin and Belfast, the Eikon Exhibition Centre offers easy access for visitors travelling from across Ireland.
Artisan makers and textile craft businesses will be taking part and showcasing their work on bespoke platforms, including the Knit Lounge, hosted by Inspiring Yarns. Independent yard dyers will be showcasing their work in a dedicated Yarn Village while there’s also a Prosecco Bar for those who like a glass of fizz while they knit!
With over 100 exhibitors, including newcomers Black Sheep, Fantastic Ribbons, Italian Buttons and What The Fabric, and more than 150 workshops, there is a packed programme to enjoy.
Knit + Stitch Event Manager, Fatima Naqvi, said this year’s show is not to be missed.
“We’re delighted to be coming to the Eikon Exhibition Centre, just outside Lisburn, which was the heartland of Northern Ireland’s linen industry,” she said.
“We know that Northern Ireland has some incredible crafters, so whether you’re just starting out or you’re a dab hand with a knitting needle, then this is the show for you.
“We’re also delighted to be welcoming Junk Kouture, the global creative programme for secondary school students that merges sustainability with style, to this year’s show. Students will be showcasing their designs in high-impact runway shows on Friday, November 14.”
