ARMAGH’S Ulster hero Niamh Reel speaks to the Democrat after grabbing the last gasp extra-time winner with her first touch, to clinch the Senior Ladies Ulster Championship.
It was a cagey final against a dogged Donegal, in energy sapping heat at Clones, where Armagh looked be heading for glory with a four-point lead in normal time before being clawed back.
The title win came at a cost as the Orchard girls lost taliswoman Aimee Mackin to a worrying injury, while her Shane O’Neill’s club-mate Lousie Kenny’s season looks over with a nasty shoulder knock.
However, Armagh stayed on top for most if the game with Lauren McConville pressing high in the closing stages and big points from Naimh Henderson, Dearbhla Coleman and Grace Ferguson before Reel’s winning free, cleverly engineered by Aoife McCoy, secured the Ulster title.
