MAYBE it has something to do with having been born in Los Angeles; after all, Holywood – the home of drama on and off-stage - is quite well known for its film industry.
Maybe it also has something to do with Joanne – Jo to all who know her – Mullen’s love of dance and all things theatrical.
Certainly it’s due in no small measure to Armagh’s wealth of young talent, not only able but also equally eager to take to the stage and perform before an audience.
Maybe it’s a cocktail of all three ingredients. Whatever the reason(s), Friday, August 25, was an occasion when, at the Market Place Theatre – 60 youngsters from Jo’s Dance Studio thrilled and delighted an audience by virtue of their excellent presentation of ‘Maisy’s Adventure’, a story written and presented by Jo based on a trip to Vietnam last December.
“It went well,” was her modest post-show assessment. “There was a lot of hard work leading up to it but, to be honest, there were quite a few moments during rehearsals when things just weren’t going to plan.”
But, in the slightly modified words of stage-speak, it was a whole lot better than ‘alright on the night’, a fact a much-relieved Jo afterwards admitted when she told the Gazette, “It all worked out in the end, so I’m delighted.”
