THE Rookie Bangers Irish Teams Championship is the feature event of this Saturday’s race meeting at Tullyroan Oval (August 12th).
The annual event is always packed full of thrills and spills, as the 3-a-side teams fight tooth and nail to claim the coveted crown.
Crashing and spinning will be the order of the day as the drivers battle through two heats and a final to determine the Irish Champions, a title currently held by Bad Company from the north west. Stephen Boyd, William McFaul and Leonard Dunn will be keen to hang onto their trophy, but there will be a whole host of others chasing the title with a bulging booking list already entered.
The open wheel Superstox formula will be contesting the annual Moffett Shield, presented annually for many years now by the Moffett family.
Loughgall’s Jamie McCann is the current holder of the superb shield, and he will be keen for a repeat performance this Saturday. Birches star Steven Haugh, the current Irish Champion, won the feature race last time out at Tullyroan so will be one to watch, as will NI Points Champion Craig McConnell from Bangor and Portadown duo Jordan Robinson and Lee Davison.
Wayne Woolsey will be hoping to extend his winning streak in the 2.0 Hot Rods, as over the past month he has landed both the British Championship and a victory in the second round of the Hoosier Tyres Series. The Scotch Street man will take some beating, but double World Champion Jordan Rochford and Irish Champion Drew McKeown will be keen to return to winning ways.
The Vauxhall Corsa dominated Stock Rods division will also be in action, alongside the teenage stars in the Junior Productions. The first race leaves the grid at 6.30pm.
