TANDRAGEE Junior High School is celebrating after success in the recent Families First Awards.
The school was delighted to achieve Highly Commended in Best School of the Year and Principal of the Year categories
A school spokesperson said. “Thank you to our community for voting for us... and thank you to our pupils.
“It is a privilege to lead and work in TJHS and serve our families.
“A great night recognising the dedication of all our staff, our pupils, their families and our local community.”
The school community comprises a genuinely dedicated Board of Governors, specialist teaching staff, a range of non-teaching staff and of course the pupils and parents.
Principal Wayne Brown said, “We have established strong family links and work in partnership with the local and wider community to instil in pupils the core values of Care, Courtesy and Consideration in a Christian ethos and to promote positive attitudes to learning by encouraging each pupil to develop holistically.
“We are proud of our Christian ethos and of the values enshrined in our motto – ‘Care, Courtesy and Consideration’. We are proud also of the high standard of teaching and learning delivered by our enthusiastic staff and of the wide range of extra-curricular and pastoral provision on offer.
“Each year our former pupils perform extremely well at GCSE and A Level in local Senior High schools. The reality is that all our pupils enjoy personal success.
“Whatever a pupil’s aspiration or ambition, talent, or gift, we can provide a solid foundation in the initial stages of post-primary (Key Stage 3) – thus ensuring that each child attains their potential.”
The Secondary, Grammar & College Awards 2024 evening took place on June 8 at Titanic Belfast.
The Armagh schools listed as finalists were Clounagh Junior High, Tandragee JHS, St Ronan’s College, Lurgan, and Lismore College, Craigavon.
