Fire at White's Oats in Tandragee

EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a fire at White's Oats in Tandragee in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, May 22).

Residents reported hearing a loud bang like an explosion around 2.30am.

The fire involved two trailers in the yard at the Scava Road premises.

No injuries have been reported.

Local Councillor Paul Berry said he was grateful no one had been injured in the incident, "It is fortunate no one was injured and hopefully there is no major damage.

"I understand it took several hours to deal with the incident and thanks goes to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service for their swift action.

"White's Oats have been a mainstay in Tandragee for many years and this, to my recollection, is the first incident of this kind."

According to NIFRS the incident was reported at 2.05am.

A spokesperson said, "One  Appliance from Portadown Fire Station, one Appliance from Banbridge Fire Station and one Appliance from Lurgan Fire Station attended the incident.

"Firefighters were called to reports of two 40ft trailers on fire at Scarva Road, Tandragee, Portadown.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and the incident was dealt with by 4.30am."
