Aaron was critically injured following what police described as a ‘fall from a moving vehicle’ on the Twelfth.

He succumbed to his injuries on Friday following a three week fight for life which had united the County Armagh community in prayer.

Hubert Watson former chairman of Dollingstown Football Club, where Aaron had served for 18 years as Club Captain and Club Secretary, described him as a ‘true warrior’.

Mr Watson said, “We lost a true friend and leader tonight.

“I am devastated to say the least and we will truly honour in some way his 18 years service to our club.”

Aaron was a former player with Loughgall FC, who also paid tribute, “It is with great sadness that we have heard the news that former player Aaron Moffett has passed away following an accident on 12th July, Aaron battled hard right to the very end.

“Our sincere condolences to Aaron’s wife Lindsey, his parents John and Florence and the rest of the Moffett and Robinson family circle at this incredibly difficult time

“We extend our deepest condolences to Dollingstown Football Club who Aaron served with incredible distinction over the past couple of decades.”

Other clubs paid tribute including Portadown FC and Glenavon FC, with a minute silence observed at a number of local fixtures on Saturday in tribute.

Aaron had been returning drums to his lodge following the Twelfth celebrations in Keady when he fell from the rear of the vehicle.

Tributes were paid from across the Orange Order and band fraternity.

County Armagh Grand Lodge said, “It is with great sadness that we have learned this evening that Bro Aaron Moffett of Portadown District has passed away.

“Since the accident on 12th July, many prayers have been offered on Aaron’s behalf. We express our sincere sympathy to the Moffett family and his friends at this time.”

Keady District No 8, which had hosted the Twelfth demonstration for County Armagh this year also expressed sadness.

They said, “The thoughts and prayers of Keady District No 8 are with Bro Aaron Moffett, his wife and family at this difficult time.

“We would ask that everyone would join with us in praying for the Lord to intervene in this awful tragedy.

“Aaron was travelling home from our 12th in Keady when the incident happened, so it is most fitting that we take him on our hearts.”

There were also tributes on the political spectrum and Deputy First Minister, Mrs Emma Little-Pengellly, from Markethill, said, “I am so deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Aaron after his terrible accident on the 12th July.

“I know the entire community was praying for him, but also his family circle over this difficult time.

“This evening we all hold the entire Moffett and Robinson families and friends in our thoughts and prayers. An absolute tragedy, Aaron was so respected and loved by so many. It is a real testimony to him and his character to see the outpouring of grief and all the many poignant reflections on his life and contribution.
