ARMAGH’S 1st XI lost on Saturday on the road to Cregagh.

Batting first, Cregagh posted 299 from their 50 overs, thanks mainly to Ravikrishnan’s 97.

Bowling wise, Armagh’s impressive Will Mann took 4-27, while Quintin Dreyer opened well, finishing with 3-35.

In reply, Dreyer continued his fine form with a sublime 98.

When Dreyer was dismissed, it was the ever reliable Mick Villiers who took responsibility and kept Armagh in the game with a classy 71.

Sadly, Cregagh’s Boultwood took five wickets in an excellent spell, and Armagh were all out for 250.

A great game that Armagh came out the wrong side of.

Cregagh 299-9 (50 overs, J Hunter 26, J Moore 32, A Johnston 24, C Boultwood 34, N Ravikrishnan 97, A Beattie 39, Q Dreyer 3-35, M Wright 2-81, W Mann 4-27)

Armagh 250 (47 overs, J Rogers 20, Q Dreyer 98, M Villiers 71, A Watt 3-34, C Boultwood 5-27)

Cregagh beat Armagh by 49 runs

Armagh’s 2nd XI were well beaten at home by BISC II.

The 3rd XI provided the only win of the day with a convincing 47 run win over Templepatrick 3rds.

Heatherington and McCarter were the main contributors with the bat, while Sam Mason and Ricky Dobbs with three wickets each ensured Templepatrick were kept at arm’s length.

The 1st XI won their two night midweek game at home to Lurgan.

Sammy Wilson’s superb 101 and Harry Doyle’s timely 63 were the backbone of Armagh’s total of 254.

Lurgan’s pro Els (44) and Jack Harrison (63) ensured Lurgan were always in the game.

However, good bowling from Matty Wright (2-35) and Dreyer (2-45), backed up by tight fielding resulting in two run outs, and the sharp glove work of Tom Nicholson in his first time keeping for the 1st XI (three catches), ensured Armagh came out with the win.

The 5th XI were on the road at the recently re-formed Dungannon.

Sadly, they were on the wrong end of a tight game. The returning Simon Cardwell was the bright spark (25) of Armagh’s total of 82. Dungannon were made to work for their win, with Josh Stoops (3-6) and Cardwell (2-21) in the wickets. Sadly, they chased the total with two balls and two wickets to spare.

In mid week Armagh Cricket Club participated in a historic first, fielding an U13 Girls’ team against Waringstown in a friendly.

It’s hoped this match is the first step to introducing regular girls cricket within the club.

Coming up against a well trained Waringstown Girls’ team, there was no fairytale beginning for Armagh Cricket Club’s U13s Girls as the match ended in defeat.

In an entertaining game, some good cricket was played with Waringstown’s batting proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Whilst the desired result wasn’t to be, Armagh’s U13s Girls team acquitted themselves very well and, with plenty of positive performances to work on, the future of Armagh Cricket Club’s Girls team looks promising.
